Friendsgiving 2025: A Beauty Community Gathering for Good


Friendsgiving first began in 2024, launched by the Male Cosmetologists Association (MCA) as a way to bring beauty professionals together to reconnect, rest, and feel supported during the holiday season while giving back to the community.


This year, MCA, the Association of Natural Haircare Professionals (ANHC PRO), and the Black Beauty Industry Initiative (BBII) are partnering with local salons across Atlanta to expand FriendsGiving into a city-wide community effort focused on care, generosity, and togetherness.


We are gathering to celebrate our beauty community and to support our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness in Atlanta. This year, we are collecting essential goods for Status:Home, a local organization that provides dignity-centered support to individuals facing housing insecurity.


Everyone in the beauty community is welcome: stylists, barbers, salon owners, beauty students, educators, product makers, wellness professionals, and friends of the industry. There is no program and no formal agenda. It is simply a warm, come-as-you-are space to be together.


How to Participate

You can participate by dropping off donated goods at participating salon donation sites throughout November, or you may bring your donated items with you to the Friendsgiving gathering on November 30.


Donation Guidelines (Provided by Status:Home)

These items are most helpful and most needed:

  • New socks (priority item)

  • New underwear (all genders and sizes)

  • Travel-size hygiene products (deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, lotion, wipes)

  • Hats, scarves, and gloves

  • Small, easy-to-carry snacks such as crackers, granola bars, fruit cups, or peanut butter packets

  • Blankets that are new or gently used and clean


Please avoid donating used socks or underwear, opened or partially used hygiene products, expired items, or large/bulky food packaging.

Donations may be dropped off at participating salons through November 30. The list of salons will be added and updated as locations are confirmed.
