January 6, 2025 marked the beginning of the ANHC PRO’s Rising Stars 12-Month Series with its inaugural session, “Reconnecting with Your ‘Why’.” Led by Personal Salon Coach Ginette Nean, the series aims to guide aspiring stylists through a year-long journey of professional growth and personal development. This first session set a strong foundation for the participants, helping them rediscover their passion and purpose in the hairstyling industry.
Reconnecting with Your “Why”
The primary objective of the session was to help participants understand and rekindle their passion for becoming stylists. Ginette Nean led an engaging discussion that centered on identifying personal motivations and inspirations, reflecting on the initial excitement for the career, and exploring ways to stay motivated.

Identifying Personal Motivations and Inspirations: Ginette emphasized the importance of focusing on passions beyond financial gain. She shared her personal journey, highlighting how a clear vision and commitment to her passion helped her persevere through initial challenges, even when financial rewards were minimal.
Reflecting on Initial Excitement and Career Vision: Participants were encouraged to reflect on the initial excitement they felt when they chose hairstyling as a career. Ginette shared how sticking to her vision despite naysayers played a crucial role in her success.

Listening/Reading Motivational Books: Ginette recommended "A Time to Make a Habit" by James Clear and "The One."
Creating a Nurturing Environment: Surrounding oneself with motivating peers and mentors is key. Learning from others, both their successes and mistakes can provide valuable insights.
Word of Affirmation: Maintaining a positive mindset and learning from every situation was highlighted as essential.
Accountability Partner: Having someone to hold you accountable helps in maintaining focus and consistency.
Faith and Spiritual Practice: Ginette shared that her faith is a primary motivator. Reading the Bible and praying are integral parts of her daily routine, providing her with strength and guidance.

Reading the Bible and praying

Ending the day with reflection and review

By the end of the session, participants gained a clear, articulated focus on their business goals, aligning closely with their original motivations for entering the hairstyling profession.

Participants were tasked with writing down their vision, dreaming big, and being detailed about their goals. They were encouraged to consider:

Desired lifestyle and work-life balance

The exercise aimed to help them compare their current status with their aspirations, paving the way for better planning and success.
