Create Freedom. Avoid Burnout. Build the Life You Want.
Ask a loctician how they schedule their clients, and many will answer: “Whenever they’re available.” But here’s the problem—if your availability is built around everyone else’s needs, your business (and your peace) will always feel out of control.
In a recent Loc Club LIVE SESSION, educator and loctician Roselee Mathu broke down how to build a perfect schedule—not just for balance, but for sustainable business success. And yes, it all comes down to math.
Why Scheduling Is Critical—Especially for Loc Services
Scheduling is especially important for locticians because loc services can be very time-consuming. A single session can take anywhere from 3 to 10 hours, depending on the service and the client’s hair. If you don’t build in boundaries, rest time, and preparation between appointments, you’ll end up overworked, behind schedule, and unable to provide your best service.
Your schedule isn’t just a calendar—it’s the blueprint for your peace, income, and growth.
The Income Equation
To start, you need to know this:
Income = Clients x Service Rate x Frequency
Let’s break it down:
If you see 3 clients/day at $125/service, 4 days/week, you’re earning $1,500/week.
Multiply that by 50 working weeks/year, and you’re at $75,000/year—and that’s before any price increases or speed improvements.
Now imagine:
You increase your rate to $150.
You reduce your workweek to 4 days.
You still hit or surpass six figures—without burnout.
Know Your Saturation Point
Your saturation point is the maximum number of clients you can take without sacrificing quality. It’s not just about time—it’s about energy, focus, and service quality. Push past that point, and everything suffers: your body, your brand, and your bookings.
Roselee shared real examples:
A part-time loctician working weekends only (3 hours/client, 2 weekends/month) could handle 18 clients/month.
A full-time loctician working Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–4pm, can handle 38 clients/month at 3 hours per service.
With skill and pricing in alignment, that’s still a six-figure schedule—with room for rest.
Tips for Building the Perfect Schedule
✅ Book fixed hours that reflect your ideal life—not just what clients want.
✅ Automate your bookings to avoid schedule creep. Let your booking system be the gatekeeper.
✅ Work on your speed and skill when you don’t have clients. Don’t waste “empty” time.
✅ Use slow times to market—create flyers, post to social, and follow up.
✅ Set your price based on your goals—not someone else’s rate sheet.
✅ Track your money—and plan for taxes, vacations, and big life moves.
✅ Raise your prices annually and when you level up your skills.
You Can Have It All—With a Plan
Creating your dream schedule doesn’t mean sacrificing income. It means getting strategic. You can work less and earn more if your time is well-structured, your services are priced appropriately, and your systems are in place.
